We acknowledge that the land on which we live and work is the ancestral and unceded land of the Tongva people. Activists such as Kimberly Morales Johnson of the Tongva community have been instrumental in educating the public on the importance of land acknowledgments, reclaiming Indigenous history in Los Angeles. Additionally, organizations like the Los Angeles Native American Indian Commission (LANAIC) and UCLA’s American Indian Studies Center continue to work toward meaningful land acknowledgment and reparative efforts for Indigenous communities.
